SAN ANTONIO
S. XVII-XVIII
Oil on canvas of 103.5 X 83.5 cm property of the Fundación Colegio Nª Sª de la Antigu
It is a painting of Saint Anthony, in vision of the Virgin with the Child who bears the iconographic lily of Saint Anthony. The Virgin appears dressed in a blue-green cloak over a red tunic, absolutely naked and carries the lily and an orb.
We also find iconography more similar to that of the painting in question. The first of Latin American invoice, apparently from the Quiteña School. The second is The Vision of San Antonio de Padua with the Virgin and Child, by Juan Correa.
