CHAPEL OF RELICS
It is in the baroque style. In it were kept a multitude of relics that the Cardinal had brought on his frequent trips to Rome. They were deposited in the hollows of the images and figures that are in said chapel, inside gold and silver teak (the normal thing in these cases). They all disappeared during the three Napoleonic invasions that Monforte suffered, including the «Lignum Crucis» (two pieces of the True Cross of the Cardinal’s pectoral Cross) except for a «thorn from the Redeemer’s crown», which is in a silver reliquary embossed. He got rid of the theft by being out of this place at that time, on the occasion of some prayers to ask for rain.
