HOLY CHRIST
From the Italian Valerio Cioli (1529-1599), also the author of the statues in Michelangelo’s tomb. Name and date engraved on the bottom of the image purity cloth.
It is made of marble in a single piece, except for the arms. The majestic and serene expression of his face stands out in him. It was commissioned by Felipe II for El Escorial (Madrid), but he did not like it, considering it too muscular; He gave it to the Cardinal with whom he had a great friendship.
